Designer: Signed HOBE. Hobe began business in the late 1800s, rich in
jewelry history and it seems to be a family tradition. The jewelry items they
created in the early years were of museum quality even though they were Costume
jewelry. They were considered good enough for Queens. Hobe quit manufacturing
jewelry in 1992.
Typical of Hobe jewelry, not only the quality of this necklace is superb,
it has an elegant tailored design of which uniqueness can only be found in high-end
jewelry. Simple, streamlined yet speaks volumes about beauty. Notice the center
row of the gleaming gold band is raised to highlight gorgeous texture and shimmer.
Also note the elongated 'V' design of clear and peridot green pronged glitzy
rhinestones accenting where the 'Q' intersects adding a sophisticated geometrical
touch to the piece. This superb Hobe necklace looks and feels like real gold.

This beautiful Oriental necklace is designed to draw attention and admiration.
Note the gorgeous skillful Oriental motif carving on the canary yellow cinnabar
round beads. The entire beads are deeply hand carved. To those who are not familiar
with cinnabar beads, they are made from a laquer which is derived from a tree
sap found in China. The center two large red cinnabar beads have sumptuously
detailed floral carving on both sides of each bead. The background of
the large red beads has wonderful minute artistical square edging to further
demonstrate the attention to detail of the artisan. The floral carvings of the
large red beads are of high relief much like the carving technique of a cameo.
Just imagine the time and skills involved! These heavenly beads are not to be
outdone by the large round lustrous genuine green jade beads that are cold to
the touch and so invitingly smooth. The jade beads are tested to be genuine
using a diamond tester. The generously sized green jade beads are 3/4" each,
yellow round cinnabar beads are 1" each and the red floral cinnabar beads are
1 3/4" x 1 1/8" and 1/4" thick. So, bold and showy! The striking lipstick red
adds a surprise element to the color combination and a sense of auspiciousness
to the piece. For the finishing touch, this fabulous Oriental necklace closes
with a glistening Swarovski clear crystal gold plated flower clasp to further
